Have you just bought a wonderful surround-sound home entertainment system but no decent home theater seating to sit on to watch the latest rented DVD? Do you always have to squeeze next to the cat and your daughter who likes to hog the old sofa like it was her bed whenever she watches anything on the screen?

Do you have to constantly pause the DVD to get your tomato juice from the kitchen benchtop because there is no place to put your drink without fear of spilling it on your white carpet? And does your back suffer terribly even only after 30 minutes of watching your favorite sitcom?

Home theater systems and home theater seating – the suburban preoccupation of the decade

If you’ve answered yes to any of the questions above, then despair no more. In the past five years or so, home theater seats have surpassed the comfort and support provided by the traditional movie theater seat.

Home theater seating can range from actual movie theater seats with beverage holders to more plush reclining club chairs and home theater loungers with footrests and built in wireless bass audio.

But how do you choose a good home theater seating? Below are some tips on how to choose a home theater seating that is just right for you.

Tips on how to choose the right home theater seating

1. The first thing to ask yourself is how many will you normally seat?

– If you prefer your home viewing to be strictly limited to yourself and your only daughter, then you will only need a seating for a small group of three.

– If you are planning to invite the whole neighborhood, then you may need to create one or more rows of grouped seating just like in a real theater. You can choose to have single seats carefully placed in your home entertainment or rumpus room or build a group of 2, 3 or 4 chairs.

2. The second and equally important question is will your current home entertainment or rumpus room have space enough for your home theater seating plan? It would be wise to allocate a room or part of a room that is spacious enough for your home entertainment area. Or if you have the budget and the inclination – you may want to add a special room for this specific purpose.

3. A very important priority in any home theater seating is comfort as you may need to be seated for an average of 90 to 120 minutes for a full length feature movie. Answering the following questions may help you to judge whether the home theater seating you are choosing will give you the level of comfort that you need.

– Does the footrest extend before the backrest reclines? This is important so that your body remains supported and your movie viewing and line of sight is kept intact.

– Are the armrests wide enough to rest your arms and provide the right balance?

– Does the seat and back offer both firmness and flexibility? Does the seat provide high density foam cushions to provide both comfort and back support?

– Does it provide full support from head to toe?

4. What style of home theater seating will fit your decor? After all, theater seats should be part of the home theater and should enhance its overall decor. Do you want an upholstered home theater seating or do you want to see some of the timber’s natural woodgrain enlivened by an oil finish?

Do you want supple, luxurious leather or the warm caress of velvet? What colors complement your decor – the girly-cute pink of custard; the regal low-maintenance ruby of pomegranate or the uptown classy brown of biscuit?

5. Was the home theater seating constucted using techniques that have been proven to result in stronger and more durable loungers and seats that can withstand everyday use, such as using kiln-dried hardwood base frames and cushions made of high density 2-lb foam.

6. Last but not least, how much do you want to spend for your home theater seating? Whatever your budget, there seems to be a home theater seating for everyone’s fancy:

– whether its the $4,700 three-seater Rodeo Leather Lounge with built in wireless bass shaker, recliner, footrest and wide armrest rolls for the ultimate in home theater experience,

– a vintage movie theater seat which had its previous home from a local movie house and which you’ve just bid successfully on ebay for $99,

– or somewhere in between.

Darkness in Soul and Self

Darkness in Soul and Self

Influences have created a darkness that shadows his power to see the soul and self in full light. Humans tend to become mysteries, since the common person has not discovered the soul and self. For this reason, we must retrain the mind. By revealing the darkness in the mind, one can come to the light and see self as a whole.

How to discover what hides in the darkness:
In the subliminal mind, it is deep and dark. In this mind are hidden messages that the mind contains from past events, learning, experiences, teachings and other influential subjects that we had developed from observations and verbal communication.

Have you ever had a feeling that something was not right, yet you could not pinpoint the problem? You likely answered yes, unless you are one of the people that have developed a higher plane of conscious awareness. These feelings emerge from the heart, hit the sensory organs and ignite a flame, which triggers the emotions. At the time, the emotions are effortlessly struggling to interpret what messages were sent. Yet, the messages sent remain trapped in the subliminal mind. It takes you to challenge this mind in order to expand your knowledge and learn what causes these reactions.

The bible tells us in Mathews 5: 3, that “Happy are those conscious of their spiritual needs.” While many of our needs surface, we fall short of relating to most needs because it hides in the subliminal mind.

The dark tunnel (Subliminal mind) travels around however. Repetitively this mind will send signals, which one must become aware of, consciously analyzing this mind to discover what the messages send. Knowledge development, diligence and self-discipline are something we all must cultivate in order to read the messages in the subliminal mind. This is because of misleading factors in our environment; we must work diligently to abandon lies by establishing facts.

Understand the subliminal messages hide because the mind has trapped messages from external sources, including music, commercialism and so forth. In fact, commercials, music, et cetera as well as other resources signal the subliminal mind, through deceptive strategies. The approaches have proven effective, yet it has also proven damaging for many people.

Take advertisements for example. When you watch a good movie, the commercials will kick in when you are feeling curious. You have to watch the advertisement and wait for the movie to start again. You feel frustrated when the advertisement starts, so you anticipate returning back to the movie, yet your subliminal mind is taking in what the commercials are advertising. When the movie restarts, thus it begins with an overall view of the last event. This methods concept is to inspire the conscious mind again so that it takes interest in continuing watching the movie.

We see then, that the subliminal mind retains bits and pieces of learned information from observation and verbal messages. Thus, we must learn to focus on our learning by advancing our ability to concentrate and remain conscious of our actions, behaviors, habits, observation and so forth.

By doing so we can unveil the messages in the subliminal mind and once these messages are unveiled we can then analyze. Analyzing the messages involve gathering evidence to support the facts. When you have sound evidence to support the facts, only then can you keep the subliminal open to discuss what it attempts to hide. By revealing this compartment of the brain, one can see clearly the natural steps he must take to expose self and the soul. We encourage you to learn more about subliminal learning by visiting the Internet today.

When the bitrate becomes high, the audio resolution becomes greater for the final product or outcome. For MPEG-4, a bitrate below 2500 is required while in H.264, a bitrate of below 760 is needed.

Just for the sake of safety, the software PQ DVD recommended using a lower-than-maximum number. If you’re the type whose choosy with his video quality, you’ll have to test some clips first to be able to determine what works and looks better.

3. Choosing the Codec of video, just select MPEG-4 that goes for a larger file size and for fast conversion or H.264 made for half the size and entails slower conversion for the quality that you like.

The History Of The Star Wars Films

Star Wars was one of those magnificent films that was an instant phenomenon when it hit the box office and continues to be a hit today. Why not take a moment to follow the intriguing history of Star Wars.

After a successful run in the early 1970s with the box office hit American Graffiti; in 1975 George Lucas writes a basic story about Anakin Skywalker’s rise, fall, and redemption. The story is so long that it needs to be divided into 2 trilogies.

The first trilogy focuses on Anakin Skywalker’s young life while the second focuses on the life of Anakin’s son Luke Skywalker. Since the second trilogy is the most interesting, Lucas decides to film it first.

He offers the film to Universal Studios who had financed his American Graffiti film, but they chose to pass thinking it was a ridiculous movie. They would live to regret this decision which would cost millions of dollars in lost profits. But they wouldn’t be alone in those regrets as every Hollywood studio passed on the movie. That is except for 20th Century Fox who came up with $10 million for Lucas to make his first Star Wars movie a reality.

In May of 1977 Fox released Episode 4 of Star Wars, A New Hope. The tone was quickly set. The film was instantly seen as the biggest adventure ever on film. The special effects were considered magnificent and outstanding. In fact, nothing remotely close had ever made it to the big screen before.

On opening day, the Star Wars movie ran in only 32 theaters, but it still produced an amazing $254,309 in ticket sales. By the end of its first run it had become the most successful film ever in North American history grossing more than $290 million.

Lucas reportedly received $50 million of those profits. When Lucas cut his deal with Fox he was more interested in control of the film then he was in his percentage. He wanted all rights to the final cut and all rights to future sequels, Star Wars merchandise rights, and 40% of the gross. This deal ultimately made Lucas a billionaire.

By 1978 Lucas had purchased the more than 1800 acre Bulltail Ranch in San Rafael and soon production of the sequel to Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, was underway. Lucas was financing it out of his own pocket and it had a budget of $18 million; however due to budget overruns the actual filming cost more than $30 million. In May of 1980, The Empire Strike Back, hit the theaters grossing $222 million, making it the highest grossing film of the year.

In May of 1983, Return of the Jedi, hit the theaters grossing $265 million in North America and Lucas decides to retire from Star Wars projects to pursue some of his other interests. He made a vague promise to make the Prequel Trilogy someday if special effects ever become advanced enough.

That day arrived in 1994 when Lucas announces he will begin working on the Prequel Trilogy with a tentative release scheduled for 1998. In 1996 Lucas signs the biggest deal ever seen in the industry with PepsiCo for movie tie ins, and later in the year he announces that the pre-production has started, and in May of 1999 Episode 1 titled, The Phantom Menace, was released, followed by Episode 2 titled, The Attack of the Clones.

Many believe that 100 years from now Star Wars will still have a following. In fact by then it may have grown to epidemic proportions.

The Warner Brothers Make Noise

The Warner Brothers Make Noise

Hollywood was an attractive place for the early filmmakers to settle, full of good weather, orange and lemon trees. For producers who owed money on borrowed camera equipment if a creditor came after them, they could hide among the trees. It was a hard business full of causalities and took a pirate’s mentality to survive. Most of the studio heads were from poor backgrounds, with limited English skills and never forgot their childhood or a personal slight. Included were Jack, Harry, Albert and Sam, the four Warner Brothers from Youngstown, Ohio. They had begun with showing movies off the side of a tent in Youngstown, borrowing all the chairs from the local undertaker. Every time there was a funeral in Youngstown, they had to give all the chairs back and the film patrons were forced to stand.
As a boy Jack Warner wished to be a singer and a comedian. His brothers, recognizing his lack of talent instructed him to sing in the tent when they wanted the audience to leave. He was later advised that the money was not in performing, it was in paying performers. Among the stars that would be under contract to him would be Betty Davis, James Cagney, Humphrey Bogart and Errol Flynn.
The silent days were a struggle for Warner Bros. Rin Tin Tin, a German shepherd that according to his publicity was born in a foxhole in World War I, was their biggest star. Heroic as he might have been on the screen, he proved to be, like many stars, cantankerous in person. Jack Warner took the dog on a publicity tour. As he introduced him to the crowd, his ungrateful employee bit him on the behind, leading to the dog’s dismissal. It proved to be a prelude to Warner’s many future battles with stars.
Trying to make a name for themselves, the four brothers got great publicity by announcing that the renowned opera tenor Caruso would be arriving from Italy to make a film for them. They paid him 25,000 dollars and then put him in a silent movie.
The movie studios had the technology to make talking films years before they made them. One of the reasons why they resisted the idea was that they didn’t want to risk losing their overseas market. Stars like Charlie Chaplin, Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford rarely ever had a flop as their films were shown around the world and knew no language barriers. But in 1926 the silent films faced their biggest competition with a new device called the radio. As movie attendance dwindled the studio heads shut their eyes and pretended the radio was not there. But the Warners lead by the ambitious Sam, decided to push the envelope and try to save their sinking studio by experimenting with movie sound.
Sam purchased an experimental sound system called Vita-phone. They then acquired the rights to The Jazz Singer, a popular play about a young man who had a beautiful voice and is offered a Broadway career against the wishes of his Old World Jewish father. In the play the son gave in to his father but the Warner’s, wishing to reach a wider audience, Americanized the story by having the son follow his own dreams. Star Al Jolson adlibbed the dialogue,” Wait a minute, wait a minute you ain’t heard nothing, yet!” The Warner’s were only intending singing but at the last minute they impulsively kept the line in the film. The Jazz Singer received a standing ovation when it premiered in New York in 1927 and went on to make three and half million dollars at a time when admission costs 20 cents. The sound revolution was under way!
Movie audiences had often been loud and noisy while watching silent films. Now the theater’s got quiet as people strained to hear every word. Movie Theater’s had to be rewired for sound, costing major studios like Paramount and Fox millions of dollars. Movies now had to film mostly at night as any passing truck noise could ruin a sound recording. ” How boring!” said Mary Pickford. “At first we moved! Now everyone is standing around talking!” One enterprising actor was hired for one day’s work. When the director wasn’t looking he let a bunch of crickets loose on the set. It was five days before the crew could round up the chirping crickets, and the actor kept on hold received five times the paycheck.

I’ve heard countless diatribes from DVD renters about the widescreen feature so commonly offered with today’s movie rentals. As I’m sure you’ve noticed, DVDs typically come with a widescreen format; however, some do come with both. Now, the widescreen format is basically the movie theater picture on your television. Naturally it doesn’t fit right if you lack a wide screen television. You’ll have to settle for black bars on the top and base of your screen. Although this has never bothered me, it bothers some folks like no other. They absolutely can’t stand the “black bars.” If this is you, then you should quickly invest in a wide screen television. You might not know it, but a widescreen picture offers a definite advantage. You get more picture on your screen. Yep, just when you thought you were getting less. Wide screen is exactly that; WIDE SCREEN. Compare it to the old standard full screen sometime and you’ll see what I mean. A modern wide screen television offers more picture for your home entertainment.

It’s not like it was when they first surfaced! Wide screen televisions are not the price of a car anymore. Well actually, some still are, but many can be bought for considerably less. For around 1000 dollars, you can actually find a decent wide screen television for your family or entertainment room. That’s how low they’ve gotten. In short, it’s time to stop grappling with the hassles of full screen TVs and upgrade to the advantages of the contemporary wide screen television. Get that movie theater level of entertainment in your own home.

Movie Stars As Sources Of Wisdom

Why do many people look to movie stars for answers to some of life’s most challenging questions?

While we have great respect for the art of acting, as explicated from Stanislavsky to Strasberg, the latter of whom we knew well and were fond of, we have never understood how the usual snippets who decide to become actors ascend in the minds of the public from being initially generally regarded as likely ne’er-do-wells to being considered the most readily available font of insightful advice on just about every topic that troubles the frontal lobe of contemporary humanity.

Are we so doubtful of our own confidence to make up our minds that the resplendent light in which a current movie star is illuminated by his own publicity agents blinds us to the very probable vapidity of his or her own mind? After all, there is a certain disjunction between what movie stars do to win our attentions and what we expect of them once they succeed.

They bring themselves to our attention by committing to memory, or by reading off one kind of prompter or another, words devised by others. We won’t go so far as to say they achieve renown by presenting the thoughts of others, since realistic drama, in most of its contemporary manifestations, is apparently unable to present characters who might actually have an occasional considerable thought.

But, once they ascend to the starry vault that hovers over us, do we expect of them anything consonant with the ability to recite the usual inanities? No, suddenly we want these storied performers to transform themselves into the wise harbingers of original insight and exemplary advice. We even search the most mundane aspects of their personal lives for a hint or two as to how we might enhance the happiness of our own comparatively desultory lives. Or, just as often, we suppose, in the hope of finding that, despite their great reservoir of astonishing expertise, their own lives are inexplicably entangled in antics so confoundedly absurd that their shortcomings make us feel far superior in the relatively rickety guidance of our own lives.

Since we can only be sure that the lights of stage and screen will continue to be presented to us with all the wiles that can be managed through the deft employment of colorful media, as the engaging exemplars of how we should only hope to live, it appears that the only way to alter the mutual mockery is to become more realistic about what we really ought to expect from our dazzling stars-brights.

Whether it’s the beginning of a new year or we’re half way through, you want it to be your best year ever.
You are no doubt doing some planning for how to make that happen. You are doing some planning aren’t you?

I’d like to recommend you take some time to really clarify your Purpose and Vision.

Clear purpose and vision are the keys to giving you a focus and direction. Unfortunately, that’s something that is all too often lacking from small businesses. What you need to do is quite simple, but may challenge you if you’ve never taken the step before.

Here are a few ideas to help you make this your best year ever.

A clear purpose describes what you are out to cause with your business. Have you lost track of your purpose? Do you remember what led you to start or get into your business in the first place?

* Three questions to ponder as you seek to re-ignite the purpose in your business:

What do you really want out of life?

What do you really not want in your life?

What would you be willing to give up in order to live the life you want?

Answer these questions honestly and build your business around the life you want to live. Talk about a purpose that would set you on fire.

* Here’s an idea for creating your vision. Think of the absolute greatest outcome that you can possible imagine that your best clients would really want from your service. Build your vision around being “the resource” that works to deliver that.

* Examine your values and principles and then determine what you want your business to be in the future. Find your favorite way to relax quietly and let your mind open to dwell in what’s possible.

* Imagine yourself in a private movie theater watching a movie of your future self in 10 years. As the movie ends you notice you’ve been joined by the star of the show. Ask them any question you want about how they got to that place of great success in the movie. What was your future self’s purpose and vision.

This may seem silly to you at first, but if you open your mind up to accept that the visioning process will work, you’ll be amazed at the answers that will emerge.

What Is DivX?

What Is DivX?

Technology – The times are certainly changing and it seems each day something new arrives to intrigue us. Recently we’ve been hearing all about DivX, but what is DivX?

DivX is a digital video codec compression decompression format that is based on the technology of MPEG-4. These files can be downloaded over a high speed connection very quickly without sacrificing the quality of the digital video; so it is an excellent choice for exchanging video files over the Internet.

DivX was originally developed for DVD encoding because of its high quality at such a low bit rate (650 mb=90 min at 640×480 standard bitrate). It was once thought it could be used to create an alternative to video rentals. However it lived a short life expectancy in the DVD world; instead becoming a popular Internet video tool.

The DivX player is a downloadable program that lets you download multiple videos. You can pause and resume the downloads at any time and easily add URLs. You can organize your video collections so they are easy to access and you can quickly drag and drop, then burn your multiple DivX videos to a CD or DVD.

You can watch any DivX video with your player right on your computer and you can also watch any rented DivX movies. If you prefer to watch your movies on your big screen TV while relaxing in your favorite chair it’s no problem. You just burn them to disk.

DivX is an advanced digital video codec which plugs into a variety of video software applications that are available. It allows you to create high quality videos which are then compressed so you can fit several movies onto a single CD.

And you can convert your videos to DivX in no time. Just drag and drop your favorite movie into the DivX converter and you’re done. The rest will be taken care of by the converter. The compression ratio of 25:1 means you can fit one full DVD movie on a regular CD. That’s pretty impressive.

And now you can do some searching online and discover all the great sites with free movie downloads. It won’t be long before you’ll have a terrific video collection on your system and it won’t be taking up hardly any space.

If you think DivX is something you could find useful, be sure to visit some of the resource sites online to learn how to effectively use it. And then don’t you think it’s time to start building that movie collection?
